When should I join a Prenatal Yoga class?
The best time to join a Prenatal Yoga class is when it feels good for YOU. We have people join who are early in their first trimester and are looking for ways to gently move their body, reduce nausea and help support fatigue that they might be feeling. Other expecting parents join us later on in their pregnancy once their nausea has eased and they are feeling like they have more energy. They are looking to reduce common aches and pains and prepare for their labour and delivery.

I am an experienced yogi. Is this class for me?
Yes! Amazing! We love avid yogis! Throughout each of our classes we will offer many options. You are also welcome to adjust and adapt throughout the practice to best fit your needs. Allow yourself to tune into your body and do what feels best for you. This is also a great time to start to ease into a different type of yoga practice as you prepare for your motherhood journey.
What should I look for in a Prenatal Yoga Instructor?
You want to look for an instructor who you feel pulled towards. One who is not only educated in the field and has experience but is also willing to meet you where you are on your journey and help you with your goals and to feel good from the inside out. One who you feel comfortable with to ask your questions and will answer your questions in a truthful and caring manner. Don’t hesitate to ask questions! Check them out. See what education and experience they have. This person is going to be a part of a very important journey in your life. Make sure it feels good to you. xo
What are the benefits of Prenatal Yoga?
There are so many benefits to Prenatal Yoga! It’s a great way to relieve common aches and pains that you may be feeling throughout your pregnancy. Many women feel that it also helps support them for higher quality sleep. It can help reduce stress and anxiety and to allow you to feel supported throughout your journey. Prenatal Yoga will also help you learn different breathing techniques that you may find helpful throughout your pregnancy, labour and postpartum. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other amazing families who are on a similar journey as yours.
How is Prenatal Yoga different than regular yoga?
Prenatal yoga will take into account your growing and changing body and how to accommodate yoga postures to feel supported on your journey. There are some yoga postures that you may practice during your regular yoga classes that need to be modified to best support you during your pregnancy and to ensure your practice is safe for you. As pregnancy hormones flow through your body your ligaments begin to loosen (we want this for baby to be able to move down through the pelvic!) but this can cause your joints and bones to feel unsupported. A prenatal yoga class will help you understand how to move your body in a way that works for you with where you are at during your journey.
What can I expect in a Prenatal Yoga class?
In a typical Prenatal Yoga class you can expect movement (yoga asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), mindfulness and meditation. You will experience yoga postures that help relieve common aches and pains. Some examples of this is finding ways to ease your sore and achy hips, back and shoulders. As well as any swelling, fatigue and /or nausea you might be experiencing. You can also expect to connect and to find a village of other expecting families who are experiencing a similar journey as yours.
