Supporting Immune Function For The Whole Family

Well tis the season……back to school….fall….colds…..flus…..and lots of sniffles.

As I write this we are in the middle of a pandemic which also makes things more complicated when it comes to our regular cold and flu season. What is normally expected with the Fall season has turned into much more stress and emotions because with those sniffles do we have to get tested for the pandemic C?!

There are lots of ways we can help support our immunity when it comes to the changing of the seasons as we move into cold/flu season.

Here are some simple ways you can help support your family to improve their immune function:

  • SLEEP! Sleep is so important when it comes to keeping our bodies functioning optimally. Remember- it’s not just about quantity. It’s also about QUALITY.
  • FRESH AIR! Get outside, soak up that vitamin D and connect with nature. This TIME article shares the benefits of Forest Bathing. There also is some interesting research surrounding Vitamin D and Covid-19. It will be interesting to see what comes about with this! So grab all that sunshine and Vitamin D that you can!
  • Nourish with proper NUTRITION. Eating a variety of foods and colours is important for proper nourishment and nutrition. Notice each time you eat what colours and types of food you are fuelling your body with.
  • MOVEMENT! Move your body every day! Are you getting the recommended physical activity and movement in each day? Children should be getting at least 60 minutes of moderate to challenging physical activity accumulated each day. Adults should be accumulated at least 150 minutes of vigorous activity each week. We are going to challenge you to increase that though. Let’s keep up with those kids!
  • MINDFULNESS! Incorporating a mindfulness practice into your daily routine can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Research shows that when we decrease our stress levels we help to better support our immune function! Win-Win, right?! Try out THIS to help you take a quick break and reduce cortisol levels in your body.
  • ESSENTIAL OILS! Essential Oils can play a great supporting role in our immune function and also help with symptoms you might experience from some common illnesses. Check out the video below for some more tips and tricks when it comes to using oils in your home!

🛑could have done without the multiple CHEO visits, including 2 kids with foot issues
🚍many hotel visits- Montreal x4, St Hyacinthe, Drummondville, Niagara Falls, Quebec City, Rochester, Syracuse and more!
🎡While it was a hot one we didn’t miss out on the Shawville fair 
💦Many hours spent floating in the pool

It was a whirlwind. Challenging at times. Days flew by too fast. But we were together. As a family unit ❤️

Endless sporting events with the trio, weekly adventures on the road, and a precious new niece stealing our hearts with smiles and snuggles. Countless coffees and 12% margaritas savored, poolside float sessions, Bella’s spa day dreams fulfilled, and Rhiannon blossoming into a pre-teen. Dom shining in a leadership role with young ones, Bella’s triumph mastering the back handspring, and our cuddly, anxious Bear always by my side. Grateful for a patient husband who embraces my shenanigans, mood swings, and daily coffee rituals. Here’s to the beautiful chaos of 2023! 🎉
