Little Lotus Yoga loves being part of the dynamic Glebe community. We started offering yoga classes at GNAG over 10 years ago, welcoming families into the warmth of the community space. Back then I had been a nanny in the area for a number of years, and spent many hours exploring all the neighbourhood had to offer for children and their families. Now a mother of three, I love watching my own children take part in the Glebe’s assortment of programs and activities.
I’m so excited to be joining this community with a permanent Little Lotus studio called The Nest, located at 779 Bank St. We offer a wide range of yoga classes and teacher training opportunities, and have partnered with MotherWit Ottawa to create a lovely hub for all things pregnancy, parenting and child.
It’s important to me that we continue to support local businesses in the community, and it’s the perfect time to do so over the holidays. Gift buying in the Glebe is a special experience that you don’t get at a large shopping centre – walkability, ample coffee shops (for the tired shopper) and delicious treats are just some of the perks you’ll find in this neighbourhood. Another bonus is the unique and meaningful gifts that can be found for your loved ones.
And who else deserves a more meaningful gift than Mom? Over the years I’ve discovered these hidden gems, where you’ll find all kinds of unique gifts for the special woman in your life:
The Papery, 850 Bank St. http://papery.ca/
Here you’ll find delightful notebooks and planners, for Mom’s endless to-do lists and busy calendar! Or maybe choose from their selection of gorgeous cards and stationary.
Magpie Jewellery, 799 Bank St. http://magpiejewellery.com/ Nothing says “I love you” like a stunning piece of jewellery, and Magpie curates the best in hand-made designs from Canada and around the world. If you know Mom would love a piece that reflects her individuality, custom pieces can incorporate family rings and gemstones in a new design.
Third Avenue Spa, 784 Bank S. http://www.thirdavenuespa.com/
What mother doesn’t need a bit of rest and relaxation? Treat Mom to a manicure and pedicure, or maybe a custom facial. The winter months can be dark and dreary, but Third Avenue Spa will definitely put the pep back in Mom’s step!
Davids Tea, 798 Bank St. https://www.davidstea.com/
A warm cup of tea pairs so well with a wintery day. Davids Tea offers a huge selection of organic, herbal and flavoured teas, perfect for any time of the day. Move over coffee, tea is mom’s new favourite!
Delilah, 791 Bank St.
This trendy boutique carries a unique selection of Canadian and European clothing and footwear. The focus is on quality and style, and you are sure to find a cozy scarf or sweater for Mom that she will love.
Lindt Chocolate Shop, Lansdowne Park
Ask a mother what she really wants, and she’ll usually answer “wine or chocolate.” This Swiss chocolatier is a favourite all over the world. But enter the Lindt store at your own risk – you’re bound to leave with more than just a tasty treat for Mom!
Little Lotus Yoga @ The Nest, 779 Bank St.
Give mom the gift of time on her yoga mat; a chance for her to refocus and relax. Buy a gift certificate or series of classes, and allow Mom to nurture her mind, body and spirit.
