Biodome is a “must see” if you are in the Montreal area. We live 2 hours away and still hold a family membership to this fantastic place. We visit at least three to four times per year.
My children have loved the Biodome for years! It is a wonderful place to investigate, where you can explore by touch as well as sight. As a parent, I love the Biodome because it is not so big that it is overwhelming to take tots and preschoolers, and you can easily see the entire place in three to four hours.
Since we have been going for quite some time, my children have been known to run through the place in one and a half hours just stopping along the way at their favourite spots. Mom’s favourite spot to stop and relax? The penguins, of course! I could sit for hours and watch these fascinating creatures jump, swim, waddle and slide!
At the Biodome, you venture through various ecosystems… the children love to see so many animals up close and personal. Glide down a slide while you watch an otter swim beside you. Go underground and view on a television screen how beavers set themselves up to hibernate and what it looks like while they hibernate.
I must share that the Biodome is not stroller friendly, so I highly recommend wearing your baby if you have a little one in arms and leaving the stroller in the car for this outing. It can get quite crowded and is difficult to maneuver around others in some of the smaller places. You are welcome to bring your own food in with you and there are places to eat your picnic outside or inside the cafeteria. Food and drinks, other than water, are not allowed within the Biodome ecosystems for safety reasons.
Montreal is a vibrant city that is so full of fun things to do with the kids!
