Did you know that pelvic system can be influenced by your gut? When you attend Kegels and Cocktails on March 2nd, you will get the chance to hear expert Dr. Erin Kasparek. She will be speaking about the role that the gut/digestion can play in pelvic pain.
Dr. Erin Kasparek will teach you how imbalances in digestive function can wreak havoc on the structures of the pelvic floor, and how optimizing nutrition and digestion can improve pelvic health concerns.
Dr. Erin Kasparek is a practicing Naturopathic Doctor at the Ottawa Integrative Health Centre. With a special interest in women’s health, digestive and hormonal conditions, and advanced training in pediatrics, Erin has a growing family medicine practice. Patients can expect individualized natural treatment strategies focused on addressing the root causes of health concerns.
After completing an honours degree in Bio-medical Sciences at the University of Guelph, she pursued her naturopathic medical studies at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and holds a license through the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy (BDDT-N).
I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Erin Kasparek a few questions and here are her responses.
What do you do?
“Using natural therapies, I help individuals manage and resolve their health concerns by addressing the underlying cause of their symptoms. I have a special focus on women’s health, hormonal health, and pediatrics, but I also treat a lot of digestive and immune concerns, in addition to pain management options.”
How do you help women?
“I help women in a variety of ways. Primarily, by empowering them to take charge of their own health, which has a tremendous downstream impact on their family’s well being. In a perfect world, female patients would start seeing me in their late teens or 20’s so we can regulate and understand their menstrual cycles and put in place appropriate self-care and stress-management tools. From this sort of foundation, fertility outcomes, menstrual health, and the menopausal transition all tend to be smoother. I also see women who’s concerns stem from significant hormonal changes at the time of puberty, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. My goal is to provide women with information and therapies to resolve any discomfort or dysfunction that may result from hormonal imbalances.”
What’s one thing you would like women to take away from hearing you speak at Kegels and Cocktails?
“I would like to educate women on the interconnectedness of their body systems. The digestive system is central to how the body operates, both by absorbing all the nutrients that we need to function optimally, and also in moderating the immune and nervous systems. Therefore, the pelvic system depends on digestive function, and that’s what I will be discussing. Looking forward to it!”
