Holiday Mocktails

December 16, 2015

The holiday are upon us and even though you’re expecting this holiday season you can still be part of the celebration and enjoy a festive drink! The holidays are everyone’s favorite time of year and the season is packed with parties and events that can bring the holiday spirit out of even the biggest Grinch. As a part of these celebrations, here are three wonderful (non-alcoholic) drinks that you can serve that fit the holiday theme perfectly and make great additions to any party or casual holiday gathering. Happy Holidays!

Blood Orange Basil Mocktail

blood orange mocktail

This blood orange basil fizzy drink is perfect for new moms or moms to be. This mocktails flavours of citrus and basil while unconventional are festive and compliment each other very nicely, and the bubbles from the tonic water make this a drink little extra special. Basil is not often an ingredient in mocktails or cocktails but the addition of this herb is a nice refreshing twist and not overpowering at all.

Makes: 2 servings

Ingredients:

3 large basil leaves
2 ounces ruby red grapefruit juice
4 ounces blood orange Italian soda
2 ounces tonic water

Directions:

On a cutting board chop up the basil leaves and then mash the cut up leaves on the board with the back of a spoon that has been wet with the grapefruit juice. Split the mashed basil evenly between two glasses. Add the blood orange soda, grapefruit juice, and tonic water and mix well. This drink can be served with or without ice.
