The holidays are getting ever so close, and the shopping days are becoming fewer and fewer. Are you at a loss of what to get your yoga loving friends? We’ve come up with some great ideas that any yogi would be happy to see under their tree or in their stocking.
1) Travel Yoga Mat
Does the yogi on your gift list like to take their yoga practice on the road? There are several different travel mat options out there. Things to take into account when choosing a travel mat are durability, stickiness, weight and length (making it easy to travel with). Bonuses are if you can find travel mats made with eco-friendly biodegradable products.
2) Head Bands
No matter a person’s hair length, if they have short hair or short layers that won’t stay back in a ponytail, a headband is a must for yoga practice. Anyone who is tired of fixing their hair in the middle of class because it’s fallen into their eyes will benefit from adding a headband to keep hair out of their face and distracting them from focusing on their practice.
3) A Super Absorbent Yoga Towel
A really great yoga towel is made of microfibre. When used during hot yoga it’s placed as a top layer on the yoga mat. It works to help the yogi get a grip of their mat when they are all sweaty and slippery.
4) A Singing Bowl
Many avid yogi dream of owning their own Tibetan singing bowl, but few would purchase one for themselves. This is precisely what makes it such a lovely holiday gift.
5) A Genius Yoga Bag
How cool is this? It’s a yoga bag that holds your yoga mat, gear, accessories and even a water bottle. It does that while making it easy not to wrinkle your cloths and folded out it functions as a cloths bag that can hang in your closet. What’s it called? It’s the Hotdog Yoga Rollpack by Skooba Design. We think it’s pretty smart.
6) Yogitoes rDot
The rDot is a new take on the yoga block, it helps to support your body while in a pose keeping your muscles active. If the rDot is used while on its side (as in the photo), it allows your muscles to remain active while in balancing poses, and the rDot serves as a block when it’s placed flat on the ground.
7) Cork Yoga Blocks
Cork blocks are a great combination of a light weight material and strength. Specifically for poses when you want something firm under the palm of your hand for support. Cork is a perfect material for yoga blocks as cork is naturally antibacterial, soft to touch, and very grippy. This is also a wonderful gift for the eco-conscious yogi, as cork is a natural product and more often than not is a sustainably harvested product (double check your manufacturing info just to be sure though).
Speaking of grippy…….
8) Grippy Yoga Socks
Grippy yoga socks are like gloves for your feet. They provide a skid free experience to for the yogi without the need for a mat or towel and help to avoid slipping when in a limb stretching posture. They also fit really well into a stocking!
9) A Traditional Meditation Cushion or Bolster
These cushions raise the hips making the entire range of cross-legged sitting positions more stable and comfortable for the yogi. They come in many shapes, colours and sizes and are a great gift for anybody into yoga or meditation.
10) A Beautiful Mala
How pretty! And can a yogi really ever have too many malas? We don’t think so. Traditional malas are used as a tool to help the mind focus during meditation, and would be a thoughtful gift for anyone in your life with a new or consistent practice. Some of our favourites can be found at malarae.com
