What’s on your bookshelf? When was the last time you read a book? I don’t mean a board book, picture book or the story book that was picked for you to read before you tucked your little one in at night. I mean a real, chapter, small print book of your very own? In my case it has been a long time. Since becoming a toddler mom, I have not touched a “grown up chapter book”. That’s why when given the chance I joined The Little Lotus Mom Community’s inspirational book club, it is a virtual book club where the book chosen is discussed in a friendly environment with the opportunity for moms to meet up in person.
Every two months a new inspirational book is chosen for the group to read. The Little Lotus Mom Community chats about the book in their Facebook community. Not only are there online discussions in their Facebook community, but there is also a super fun in person meet up in Ottawa to chat about the book, meet some new people face to face, and eat some great food.
Did life get in the way and you didn’t have time to finish the book? Didn’t start the book and still want to take part in a meet up? Come on out!! This is a no pressure, fun only book club and finishing (or starting) the book is not a requirement to join in on the fun.
This time the chosen book is Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.
“Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable, or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts.
In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection. The book that Dr. Brown’s many fans have been waiting for, Daring Greatly will spark a new spirit of truth—and trust—in our organizations, families, schools, and communities.”- Amazon.ca
Very insightful!! I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to start reading and to see what conversations unfold on our Little Lotus Mom Community page. Join in the conversation and follow along using our hashtag #littlelotuslit and sign up to attend our June 30th in person meet up here. Happy Reading!
