You spend time reading, researching and preparing for the birth of your precious little baby. Then they are here, your birth partner heads back to work, you have your last follow up appointment with your health care provider and then it starts to hit you. It is you and your baby. Some days seem to go by quickly through the cycle of eat/sleep/change baby and some days may seem to go by more slowly. There is only so much walking, shopping, reading and tv watching you can do in a day with a newborn before you may start to get bored.
Here at Little Lotus our instructors cannot stress enough the importance of finding your MAMA TRIBE. Finding a group of women who really resonate with you. Who won’t judge you if you don’t have a chance to shower before heading out of the house, who will support your parenting choices no matter what they are and won’t think twice about giving you a big hug when you have a hard day.
Becoming a new mom can has a lot of changes that can come with it and sometimes that means you are looking to connect with others who are going through similar experiences as you. So….where can you find your Mama Tribe? We always suggest activities such as Mom and Baby yoga, infant music and movement classes/playgroups, walking and fitness groups, breastfeeding groups, etc. Do a general google or Facebook search for your geographic area and you may be surprised with the amount of options available to you! Don’t be afraid to reach out to others mom. We can almost guarantee that they are feeling a lot of the same things that you are and they are hoping to connect with others who they can spend time with and chat too.
Little Lotus Founder, Amanda, found some of her best gal pals when she had her first baby over 4 years ago. These women were and still are her support system. They laugh together, cry together, enjoy coffee (and wine!) time together and their kids love to get together and play.
Here at Little Lotus Yoga we want to help you create a great support system and network as a new parent. Our instructor team has a lot of connections in your area and are always happy to help recommend other parenting groups, resources and info.
