We are so excited to have both Natasha Carraro & Melanie Joanisse as speakers at Girls’ Night Out this December 5th.
Dr. Mélanie Joanisse, C.Psych is a clinical and health psychologist who works at the Montfort Hospital, Clarence-Rockland Family Health Team, and The Ottawa Couple and Family Institute. She is a clinical professor at the University of Ottawa and associate professor at Université du Québec en Outaouais. She works extensively with individuals who have to adapt to chronic illnesses and with women with perinatal and postnatal difficulties.
She completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa and is a bilingual therapist. The individuals and couples she treats experience a wide range of concerns. Her main areas of interest are anxiety and mood disorders, relationship difficulties, adjustment to chronic illnesses, trauma, grief and bereavement, poor self-esteem, as well as adult developmental transitions.
Dr. Natasha Carraro, C.Psych is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario in the areas of Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Rehabilitation Psychology. She provides assessment and treatment services to adults and couples presenting with a range of psychological concerns, including: anxiety, depression, trauma and posttraumatic stress, interpersonal difficulties (e.g., relationship distress, attachment injuries, problematic interpersonal patterns), grief and bereavement, adjustment to loss and change, and chronic pain.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. She completed her residency in a joint position between the Centre for Psychological Services and Research and The Ottawa Hospital. Throughout her clinical training, she worked at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (Anxiety Disorders Program), The Ottawa Rehabilitation Centre, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and The Ottawa Hospital (First Episode Psychosis Program, Eating Disorders Program, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit). She is a professional member of several organizations, including the Canadian Psychological Association, the Ontario Psychological Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She continues her professional development through regular consultation, workshops, conferences, and remaining abreast of the scientific literature. Natasha also works at Ricci & Associates, where she provides assessment and treatment services.
