New Years is a time for a new start, a time to refresh and create new goals. What better way to help you achieve your new goals than with a vision board, add in some yoga and your new year will be off to a great start.
What is a vision board? Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. A vision board, at its core, is a visual representation of all the things that you want to do, be, and have in your life. It’s a daily reminder of those things. Something you can look at every single day to remind you of your deepest desires. They can be very powerful. Because the thing is, attention is powerful, and where your attention goes, your energy flows. And don’t you want your attention focused on the things that you want to attract in your life? A vision board can be photos or words that resonate with you, they can be big or small, the can be made on paper or in picture frames or bulletin boards. The combination and ideas are endless.
Why should you make a vision board? What is a vision board going to help you do? Well, they are great for a lot of things and there are a lot of reasons as to why you might want to create a vision board. Maybe you’re in transition between job or relationships, or anything really! Maybe you’re feeling stagnant. Maybe you’re pretty happy, but you know deep down that there’s more out there for you. These are all perfectly good reasons to make a vision board.
According to the popular book The Secret, visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.” When you put a vision board in a space where you see it often, you end up by doing short visualization exercises throughout the day. Olympic athletes have used visualisation boards for decades to improve their performance, and studies have even shown that when weightlifters just visualized lifting heavy weights their brain patterns were similar to when they lifted heavy weights in real life.
Excited to start creating your very own vision board? Great! Little Lotus Yoga is hosting events at The Nest on January 6th and January 13th where you will get the chance to do just that.
