New Year’s Eve is often seen as a time of rebirth, the chance to start anew. It’s such an exciting time of year, a time to refresh, restart and create goals. The best way to set yourself up for success in the New Year is to make a plan to help you reach those goals.
One of the best ways to make a plan for your goals is to create a vision board. What’s a vision board? Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. A vision board, at its core, is a visual representation of all the things that you want to do, be, and have in your life. It’s a daily reminder of those things. Something you can look at every single day to remind you of your deepest desires. They can be very powerful. Because the thing is, attention is powerful, and where your attention goes, your energy flows. And don’t you want your attention focused on the things that you want to attract in your life?
Why should you make a vision board? What is a vision board going to help you do? Well, they are great for a lot of things and there are a lot of reasons as to why you might want to create a vision board. Maybe you’re in transition between job or relationships, or anything really! Maybe you’re feeling stagnant. Maybe you’re pretty happy, but you know deep down that there’s more out there for you. These are all perfectly good reasons to make a vision board.
According to the popular book The Secret, visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.” When you put a vision board in a space where you see it often, you end up by doing short visualization exercises throughout the day. Olympic athletes have used visualisation boards for decades to improve their performance, and studies have even shown that when weightlifters just visualized lifting heavy weights their brain patterns were the similar to when they lifted heavy weights in real life.
Excited to start creating your very own vision board? Great! Little Lotus Yoga is hosting an event at Sweet Spot Yoga in the New Year on January 6th where you will get the chance to do just that. You will get the chance to partake in a restorative yoga class and guided meditation to help you better visualize your life and goals, as well as the things you desire, the things that bring you happiness and the things you are passionate about. Afterwards you will get to create your very own vision board for 2016 putting into focus all your wants, needs and desires for the New Year (all materials will be provided for you, but if there is something special you want to include please feel free to bring it along). Space is limited to allow for a more one on one attention during the yoga class and to allow you to more easily get to know your fellow attendees over special treats and hot drinks in this one of a kind workshop.
