Nadi Shodhana, better known as Alternate Nostril Breath, balances the right and left hemispheres of the brain. The next time you or your littles are feeling a little frazzled and looking to focus, feel more balanced and calm try this technique out!
Using the right hand close the right nostril. Inhale through the left nostril. Release the right nostril, close off the left nostril and exhale through the right. Inhale through the right nostril. Close the right nostril, open the left and exhale through the left nostril. Repeat this process with a slow and steady breath.
The left nostril is generally associated with calmness, empathy, creativity of the right hemisphere of the brain.
The right nostril is generally associated with concentration, action, analytical and logical though with the left hemisphere of the brain.
