Every summer our family goes to Toronto in August for the CanFit Pro fitness conference. While I enjoy a weekend of learning, networking and meeting new people, I always make sure to get in some quality family time as well. Last summer we headed over to Toronto Centre Island.
The ferry ride over to the Island is an adventure in its self! I highly recommend heading over on the first ferry of the day as it can get busy and hot quite quickly. My little ones love sitting up on the top deck so they can see all around them. When we are inside, we always make sure they get a bench seat right by the window.
Centreville Amusement Park is their favourite place for things to do on the Island. With the carousel, cars and fire trucks to ride on and so many more amusements, the kids have fun for hours and hours. We can easily spend three to four hours enjoying the entertainment that it has to offer. When it is time to cool off, we head over to the beach and enjoy relaxing in the cooling breezes as the kids splash around in the water.
There are lots of vendors offering their fares to eat but I strongly suggest bringing some water and snacks for the kids as the food choices are not always the healthiest and the costs can add up quickly.
The ferry leaves often so you never have to wait long to catch a ride back. We tend to arrive at the Island early and leave after lunch before naptime. This way we manage to avoid the rush of teenagers starting to head over to the Island for their afternoon beach time!
