Prenatal Yoga Poses | Supta Baddha Konasana | Reclined Bound Angle

Open and free your pelvis in this weeks Prenatal Yoga Pose of the week. This posture can be even more comfortable if you place pillows or cushions between your legs and the floor. Cover yourself up with a cozy blanket and share your warm touch with your baby as you rest your hands onto your belly.

Supta Baddha Konasana

Posture (English)

Reclined Bound Angle

Description / Explanation

  • In a seated position bring the soles of the feet together
  • Bring the feet in towards the pelvis
  • Let the knees rest towards the floor
  • Recline

Benefits

  • Tones kidneys
  • Tones pelvis
  • Creates space in the pelvic floor
  • Relieves compression through the vagina and anus
  • Strengthens low back
  • Restorative properties
  • Encourages opening and freeing of pelvis

Contraindications

 

Notes

The expectant mother must ensure she continues to breathe comfortably while on her back and listen to her body at all times
If experiencing any hip or knee discomfort modify by placing a block or bolster under the knees / thighs to help support the legs in this position.
